Ways to Give
Your generous support helps us continue to provide life-changing programs for individuals with special needs.
You can make one-time or monthly donations to help us with general operating costs, or support a specific fund or program that resonates with you. We also accept donations of items on our Wish List and "in-kind" donations of financial securities like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc. Below are some of the ways you can support what we do at Sunrise.
One-time or Monthly Donations
One-time or ongoing monthly donations to help us cover general operating and other costs are deeply appreciated. Your donation will be used to fund our general operations (such as utilities, feed, bedding, veterinary care, etc.) by addressing specific needs as identified by Sunrise staff.
Sunrise accepts one-time or ongoing monthly monetary donations of any amount. All donations of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt.

In-kind Donations of Financial Securities
Gifts of publicly traded securities—including stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs—offer one of the most tax-efficient ways to support Sunrise’s programs.
When donations are made directly to Sunrise, capital gains tax is eliminated so more of your gift goes to supporting Sunrise. Giving to Sunrise in-kind can be an effective part of your year-end financial planning.

Donate a Car
Sunrise is partnering with Donate a Car Canada to accept your car donation! You will be provided free towing, or you can drop off your vehicle to maximize your donation. When you donate your car, truck, RV, boat, or motorcycle to SUNRISE through Donate A Car Canada, it will either be recycled or re-sold (depending on its condition, age and location). Donate a Car Canada will look after all the details to make it easy for Sunrise to benefit. You will receive a tax receipt after your car donation has been processed!

Sunrise Scholarship Fund
- Provide a full semester of therapeutic riding lessons for a local child

Hearts and Hooves: Horse Co-sponsor (one year)
Our horses are the heart of our programs! The average cost per year to provide food, veterinarian service, farrier service and daily care is $5,000 for each of our 22 horses. Sponsor one of our gentle giants and make an impact on the lives of hundreds of individuals a year. Carefully selected and trained, each horse provides up to 600 hours of therapy a year! This sponsorship will be used to contribute half the cost of one year of examplary care for one of our horses, including:
- Specialized feed and supplements
- Regular veterinary care
- Farrier services
- Training and exercise

The human-animal bond is a special relationship, providing a sense of unwavering acceptance and motivating riders to try new skills.
At Sunrise, we witness children saying their first words, teens proudly planning and executing multi-step directions,
and adults gaining greater flexibility, core strength and posture. For every rider, there is a multitude of
physical, emotional, social and cognitive benefits that result from their weekly therapeutic riding lesson.

Although we work hard to minimize our overhead costs, the very nature of the program necessitates some unique expenses! Stall sponsors are recognized through signage on stall doors in the barn, as well as on the Sponsor board, as appropriate. This is a great way to support the care of all of our horses, as well as be recognized in a high-traffic area!

Supporting the Sunrise Therapy Forest
Adopt-a-Tree (Annual)
Support the Sunrise Therapy Forest by 'adopting' one of several designated trees for a one-year period. Donors receive a card with information about their adopted tree. There are multiple sponsors per tree at this level. A recognition/sign unveiling event will be held every September. All those who have supported the forest project in the past year will receive an invitation! All supporters receive a tax receipt and certificate, suitable for giving as a gift to someone being recognized.

Friends of the Forest (Annual)
As a "Friend of the Forest," you can honour or remember a loved one by placing their name on a collective Memorial or In Honour sign for the current year, which will be unveiled each September.

Trailblazer: Stone Bench
Support the Forest by purchasing a permanent bench with individual recognition or memorial plaque, which will be unveiled each September.
Sunrise staff will determine the species and location of Trailblazer trees and benches, in keeping with the overall forest design. A limited number of stone benches will be available each year.
